Although this is a trend that has become very popular in the past year or so, its not a new strategy. In fact i created a keyword poking tool way back in 2012 called Local Traffic Commando specifically to rank for hundreds of keywords within minutes. It worked really well then and the strategy works really well today But... Keyword or Rank poking ONLY works really well if done properly! Here's The Problem... Most of the products being created and hyped up today do not take some basic marketing elements into account! Such As... Do The Keywords Have Traffic? Do The Keywords Have Any Value? If the answer to both questions is emphatically NO then i have to tell you that you're wasting time and effort on your campaigns, and that there will no benefits to you beyond bragging rights for ranking for worthless keywords. The truth is that many products today are built with good intentions and then the sales copy is written to hype them up with an angle that will be appealing enough to sell. Looking Beyond The Hype... A little bit of common sense tells us that for keyword or rank poking to have any value at all we need to know the following: Which keywords can i rank easily with fast automated backlinks? Which of these keywords have traffic? Which of those keywords have commercial intent and can make you money? I know, i can hear you! "Wait, What? I thought keyword poking was to find keywords to rank without any backlinks!" The truth is that this is another hyped up "nonsense" idea that could cost you a lot of high value, low hanging fruit keywords by overlooking keywords that need just a few backlinks or the right kind of backlinks to rank. With strategic backlinking strategies that are super fast and easy to do we can find keywords that may not rank with zero backlinks, but that will rank pretty effortlessly with the right type of backlinks and that have both traffic and commercial intent! Keyword poking is still the best way to get find easy to rank "money keywords" with very little effort, but the goal posts have been moved several times and some new factors come into play for 2017. Backlinks is still at the heart of SEO, and for properly done keyword & rank poking, the speed and ease in which we can do the right type of backlinks is important.
